September 6, 1944 – April 29, 2026
Connie Marie James Killian Brown, 81, of LaGrange, Georgia, passed into the presence of her Lord on April 29, 2026. Connie lived a life anchored in abiding faith and defined by her deep love for her family.
Born into a military family, Connie spent her childhood traveling the world, an experience that fostered her enduring spirit and cultivated her appreciation for people and places. She graduated in 1962 from Frankfurt American High School, U.S. Army Abrams Complex, in Frankfurt, Germany. She later attended Methodist College in Fayetteville, North Carolina, where she met Michael Thomas Killian. The two were married in 1965 and shared 20 years until his untimely passing in 1985. Their marriage was blessed with four daughters.
After the birth of her first three daughters—Michele, Mimi, and Kelly—Connie pursued her education with determination and earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Maryland in 1979. Shortly thereafter, she welcomed her youngest daughter, Teresa.
In 1989, Connie married Joe Elwin Brown of Cullman, Alabama. Together they shared 38 wonderful years of marriage, filled with travel, memorable moments, and cherished traditions. They especially enjoyed attending University of Alabama sporting events, relaxing at the beach, and exploring destinations across the continental United States together.
Connie was a devoted member of First Church of the Nazarene and later Cornerstone Nazarene Church. Her faith guided every aspect of her life, most evident in the way she loved and cared for her family. She was a dedicated and proud grandmother, finding true joy in the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William R. James, Jr., and Sue Bennett. Connie is lovingly remembered by her four daughters: Michele Gray (John), Mimi Rasche (David), Kelly Kahle (Steve), and Teresa Carden (Forrest); her siblings Jimmy James (Carla), Jacqueline James Mitchell, and Everett Bennett, Jr. (Mary); as well as her 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Her gentle spirit, quiet strength, and legacy of love will live on through each of them.
A celebration of Connie's life will be held on May 24 at Moss Service Funeral Home in Cullman, Alabama, at 2:30 p.m. Family will receive friends beginning at 2:00 p.m. before the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Cullman Caring for Kids or Cornerstone Nazarene Church.
