Mr. Frederick Charles Schmidt

Funeral services for Mr. Frederic Charles Schmidt, age 92 of Cullman, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 27, 2010 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery, with Father Patrick Egan O.S.B. officiating.

Frederic passed away on August 23, 2010 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born on June 12, 1918 in New York to Frederic Schmidt and Mae Brinkerhoff. He was a member of the Lion’s Club for over 45 years; he loved to travel and visited the “Lower 48” by car. He served as a 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Army during WW II; and both he and his wife Patricia were hospital volunteers at various hospitals around the states, after his retirement. He is preceded in death by his parents and wife of 66 years, Patricia.

Survivors include his Daughter – Bonnie Lea (David Morris) Schmidt Bjornstad; one Son, Richard Duane (Kathleen Masiko) Schmidt; two Grandchildren – Sgt. Joseph Michael (Joan) Bjornstad and Erik (Elizabeth Crocker) Bjornstad; two Great-Grandchildren – Michael Joseph Bjornstad and Christine Ann Bjornstad.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, August 26, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary service at 7:30 p.m.
