Grace Freeman Manning

Funeral services for Grace Freeman Manning, 81, of Cullman will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 20, 2010 at the chapel of Moss Service Funeral Home. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Hopewell Cemetery.

Moss Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Manning died Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2010. She was born July 22, 1929. She was a first grade school teacher at West Elementary and Vinemont Elementary schools for 26 years prior to her retirement in 1991. She was a graduate of St. Bernard College and the University of Alabama in Birmingham. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Cullman and the Joyful Servants Sunday School class. She was a very active member in her church and various civic organizations.

She was preceded in death by her husband, L.K. Manning; parents, Charley W. and Arlena Stricklin Freeman; two brothers, Denson Freeman and Duel Freeman (Nona May deceased); a sister, Vera Freeman Florence (G.C. Florence Jr. deceased); and a granddaughter, Melanie Manning.

Survivors include her sons, Dennis L. (Donna) Manning and J. Michael (Becky) Manning; two sisters, Eva Freeman Fields (Emmett, deceased), Mello Jo Freeman Lively (John, deceased); a brother, George Coleman (Emmalene) Freeman; five grandchildren: Tara Manning (John) Kress, Matthew (Brandy) Manning, Andrew Manning, Maria Manning (Michael) Powe, Lawson Manning; five great-grandchildren, Will Kress, Katelyn Kress, Michael James Manning and Alex Jones, Mason Powe.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday Nov. 19, 2010 at Moss Service Funeral Home.
