A celebration of the life of Larry Joe Swindoll, 76, of Cullman will be held with visitation Sunday, December 13, 2015 from 5 - 8 p.m. at Moss Funeral Home. A graveside service will be Monday, December 14, 2015 at 2 p.m. at Cullman Cemetery.
Mr. Swindoll died Friday, December 11, 2015 at home after a long illness. He was born in Water Valley Mississippi on October 7, 1939. He lived in Mississippi and Tennessee until finally settling in Cullman where his parents worked for Deep South Creamery. It is there that he met the love of his life Faye Jones whom he married June 1, 1957.
He was the epitome of consistency. He was the District Manager in Cullman for Birmingham Coca-Cola for over 41 years, having worked his way up from route helper to Manager. He remained married and in love with his wife Faye for over 58 years, and together they raised children, grandchildren and great grandchildren in a loving home.
He loved his wife, family, many friends and old cars but not necessarily in that order. Besides his family, his passion in life was old cars. Larry was proudly inducted into the Show Car Hall of Fame. Car shows and rod runs turned into spending quality time with old friends but those times usually revolved around old cars.
A distinguished member of the community, a long time member and supporter of the Lions Club, a huge supporter of our parks Larry was presented the Lay Citizen Award in 1995 for outstanding service to the cause of Recreation and Parks in Alabama.
He was loved, funny and respected.
He was preceded in death by his parents, S.M. and Eula Mae Swindoll and a brother, Bobby Swindoll.
He is survived by his wife, Faye Swindoll; children, Keith Swindoll (Jill), Jamie Swindoll (Jackie), Sandi Dunlap and Patrick Swindoll (Lisa); 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
