

Lola L. Hamilton Bradford, 89 passed away Wednesday, November 16, 2016 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Walker County, AL. Lola was born June 1, 1927 in Hanceville, AL to Charles Edward and Laura Pearl (Jones) Hamilton.
Along with her brothers and sisters, Lola was enriched with a strong work ethic at an early age from their parents. After school, she began a long career in retail sales in Cullman, later moving to David Lee’s as manager, in Moulton, AL where she met her future husband.
Lola married Luther Laverl “Brad” Bradford May 12, 1946 in Decatur, AL. They were married fifty two years until his death on October 19, 1998. To this union were born two sons, “Brad” and “Billy” and two daughters, Carol Kaye and Laural Leigh.
When her husband was called back into the military, Lola continued her retail career at David Lee’s in Fort Payne, AL. Later she worked at The Bootery, in Decatur and Kaye’s and The Bootery, in Florence from which she retired. Of course, while working full time, she was always a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Lola was a devout Christian and before declining health, very active in her member church Forest Hills Baptist, Florence, AL. She was always helping others, just gracious and giving in her nature. She loved cooking and baking and you never left her table hungry or her home empty handed. So many of us enjoyed her pies, cakes, and those cheese straws. She also enjoyed her gardening with bountiful gardens and beautiful flowers. As long as she was physically able, she continued in her later life with her cooking and gardening, but then it was really mostly about her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Lola was preceded in death by her husband, Luther Laverl “Brad” Bradford, son, William “Billy” Bradford, her parents Charles and Pearl Hamilton, all six brothers, Robert, W.C. “Cordie”, Charles Edward “Ed”, Noah, Prentis Owen “P.O.” and Sam; all eight sisters, twins, Della and Delphia Hamilton, Lillie Roberson, Evelyn Burrow, Edna Roselle Edge, Addie Pitts, Melba Hamrick, and Jo Weeks.
To honor and cherish her many acts and deeds of love and kindness are son, Luther Laverl “Brad” Bradford II, Florence, AL, daughters Carol Kaye Bradford, Fayetteville, GA, and Laural Leigh Chandler, and Judy Bradford, Jasper, AL, grandsons Matthew and Devin Bradford, granddaughters Shontel Newman, Samantha Etheridge, Dannielle Mitchell, Kayecea Browning, Emily and Hillary Bradford; great grandchildren Cody, Katelynn and Hannah Etheridge, McKenzie and Eli Newman, Abbygayle, Brieanna, and Chandler Mitchell, Chloe Perry and a host of loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
