

Funeral services for Mildred Ferguson Calvert, age 82 of Cullman, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at the Good Hope Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the adjoining cemetery, with Dr. Ralph Andrews and Bro. Jack Joyner officiating. She will lie-in-state at the church for one hour prior to the service.

Mildred Ferguson Calvert went to be with her Lord on Saturday, February 19, 2011. She was born on October 12, 1928 in Pike County. She graduated from Troy High School, and continued her education at The Holy Name of Jesus Nursing School. Mildred spent 45 years in the nursing field touching many lives. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, nurse and grandmother, and was loved for her gentile spirit. Mildred had a servant’s heart and she demonstrated it daily in her work for her Lord. She was loved by her family and friends, and the loss will be felt throughout her community.
Mrs. Calvert is preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Thomas and Ollie Wiggins Ferguson; and one brother, Thomas Ferguson, Jr.
Survivors include, her husband, James A. Calvert; four daughters, Jackie (Bobby) Patterson, Laura (Johnny) Harris, Linda (Gary) Johnson and Donna (Patrick) Thomason; two sons, Jimmy Calvert and William (Sherry) Calvert; twelve grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy (Ray) Boutwell and Betty Easterwood; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, February 21, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.
Pallbearers will be, Stephen Calvert, Derek Harris, Bobby Ray Patterson, Daniel Patterson, Mason Johnson, David Cordova, Wesley McSwain, Conner Patterson and Cooper Thomason (Honorary).
The family request In-Lieu-Of flowers, donations be made to Good Hope Baptist Church Children’s/Youth Building fund.
