Mildred Ann Horton

Mildred Ann Manley Horton broke her earthly bonds and entered into the arms of Jesus on Mother's Day, May 9, 2021. Ann was born March 22, 1935 to Frank and Clara Manley in Lawrenceburg, TN. The family relocated to Cullman, AL. and Ann graduated from Cullman High School in 1953. She later met and married Bill Horton of Vinemont, AL on April 15, 1955. They were blessed with two daughters, Kim and Kelly.

Ann was the perfect daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She adored her family and doted on her grandsons, Jordan and Christian, making every visit or trip fun and full of love. Above all, she loved the Lord. She had the purest heart. She was dedicated to her faith, her church and supported many organizations that help others. She had the spirit of giving. She walked her faith every day. She was our mother, but she was "Mama Horton" to all our friends. Ours was the house that everyone hung out. Over the years, many of our childhood friends reached out to express how much they loved Mama Horton, how special she was and what wonderful memories they had of her and her kindness. Her home was open to all.

She was an excellent wife and mother. Her home and family were her priorities. Her house was always spotless and she was a wonderful cook. She canned veggies from the garden and made homemade apple butter that would melt in your mouth. She always baked or cooked each family member their favorite things anytime we got together. She loved to pour over recipes and enjoyed baking and trying new things. She loved her garden, her flowers, her birds and her many cat throughout the years. She adored her cat Sugar that she got after her husband passed away in 2016. She loved the mornings and spending time in God's Word. She found beauty in the simple things. A blue summer sky, a crisp autumn morning, a dewdrop on a flower. She never failed to thank the Lord for the beauty that He created for us. She always said she would be happy pulling weeds in Heaven. She was creative, artistic and talented in so many ways. She was selfless and put everyone and their needs before her own. She is now reunited with her beloved Bill and all her loved ones, and of course enjoying pulling the weeds!

Ann was preceded in death by Bill, her loving husband of 61 years; her parents: Frank and Clara Manley; sisters: Jean Wilcutt, Marie Manley and Peggy Goodlett; and brother: James Manley (Yonnie). She is survived by her daughters: Kim Carr (Mike) of Northport, AL; Kelly Magadan of Tuscaloosa, AL; Grandsons: Jordan Magadan (Tuscaloosa, AL) and Christian Magadan (Pasadena, CA); brothers: George "Sonny" Manley (Gladys) and Thomas Manley (Tina); sister: Betty Joyce Parker (Sam); and her precious sister-in-law: Dot Johnson as well as many nieces and nephews. A special thank you to so many friends and neighbors who helped mother after daddy passed away.

Funeral service at Moss Funeral Home 1901 2nd Ave NW, Cullman, AL Saturday, May 15, 2021 in the chapel at 2:00 p.m. with visitation from 1-2 p.m. A graveside prayer service at Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery will follow the service.
