

Robert G. (Bob) Sloan, 70, died on June 18, 2016 in Cullman Alabama. Visitation will be at Moss Funeral Home on Sunday, June 26, 2016 from 1:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M. with the funeral service at 3:00 P.M. Officiating will be Rev. Ron Collett and Rev. Billy Coleman. Interment will be in Cullman City Cemetery with military honors.
Mr. Sloan was born on February 3, 1946 to the late Robert L. Sloan and Dorothy Helen Edwards Sloan in Louisville Ms. He is a graduate of S.D. Lee High School in Columbus, Ms., East Mississippi Junior College and Mississippi State University. While serving in The United States Army during the Vietnam War, he received the rank of E5 and was in the 416th Signal Company at Ft. Lee Virginia.
He retired in 2004 from AT&T with nearly forty years of service. He was a active member of the Communications Workers of America serving as steward and president for the state of Alabama. A twenty five year member of Faith Lutheran Church in Birmingham Alabama, serving many positions including President of Church Council. He is currently an active member of St. Andrews UMC and the Alabama Emmaus Community serving in missions. He was Erwin High School Band Booster Club President, a member of Rack Up and other hunting clubs, and the Forestdale Bass Club which was his two favorite hobbies.
Survivors are his wife of 46 ½ years, Sandra Wilkey Sloan, Daughters: Stephanie (Steve) Wright, Laura Sloan (Julie Blaize), Grandsons: James Wright, Jacob Wright, Mother: Dorothy Helen Edwards Sloan, Brother: Jimmy (Denise) Sloan, Sisters: Kaye Gilmore, Susan (Manny) Vallin, Barbara (Buddy) Sisson, Leanne (David) Smith, Sister-In-Law: Col. Brey Sloan, numerous nieces and nephews, aunts and close friend: Charlie Herfurth.
In addition to his father, Mr. Sloan is preceded in death by his brother: Ricky B. Sloan.
