Mrs. Ruby Jewel Humphries Brown

Funeral services for Ruby Jewel Humphries Brown age 93 of Battleground, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 2, 2011 in the Moss-Service Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Ebenezer Cemetery, with Bro. Billy Gable officiating.

Mrs. Brown was born on February 21, 1917 to the late William Elijah Humphries and Lona Vera Gray Humphries. She passed away at Hartselle Medical Center on Sunday, January 30, 2011. She was a lifelong resident of the Battleground Community, and a faithful member of Macedonia Baptist Church. A loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her grandsons, Sam and Charles always put a twinkle in her eye. She will be fondly remembered for her love of laughter.

Ruby is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Samuel Patton Brown, one sister, Gladys Hendrix and two brothers, Rufus and Raymond Humphries. The family would like to send a special thanks’ to the staff at Summerford Nursing Home for their tender loving care this past one and a half years.

Survivors include, a Daughter – Barbara Brown Buckelew; one Son-in-Law – Larry Neal Buckelew both of Hartselle; three 3 – Grandchildren, Cynde Buckelew (Randy) Roberts of Vinemont; Larry Buckelew of Martin, TN and Lamar (Juliana) Buckelew of Fuquay-Varina, NC; two 2 – Great-Grandsons, Sam Roberts of Vinemont and Charles Buckelew of Fuquay-Varina, NC; two 2 – Step-Great-Grandchildren; and a Host of Family and Friends.

The family will receive friends here at the funeral home on Tuesday, February 1, 2011 from 5:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Larry Buckelew, Lamar Buckelew, Randy Roberts, Bill Hendrix, Jerry Hendrix and Willy Hendrix; and two Honorary Pallbearers, Sam Roberts and Charles Buckelew.
