Thella Ruth loved her family and enjoyed serving them any way she could. One of her favorite things to do was search through recipes for special foods they might enjoy. But no matter the occasion, her family’s most requested dish continued to be her wonderful chicken dumplings. She delighted in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She saw her family as gifts from God and loved spending time with each of them.
More than anything else, Thella Ruth loved her Lord. A church bulletin from several years ago quoted her as saying that she was saved at a young age and had felt God’s protection and guidance every day throughout her life. During her later years, it was difficult for her to attend church regularly, so she watched several online church services every Sunday. She also faithfully read her daily Bible reading, Sunday School lesson, and devotional book. She prayed for her family and for any other prayer needs she knew about. Her faith was firmly grounded in Jesus Christ. Several years ago, Thella Ruth learned to text, and several times a day Glenda would check in with the simple words: “Are you okay?’ And Thella Ruth would reply with, “I’m okay.” There is no doubt that if she could tell us, she would assure us that she is doing so much better than just “okay” in her new Heavenly home with Jesus.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Spring Hill Cemetery fund in care of Mr. Belford Grey 310 County Road 1094 Cullman, Alabama 35057.
