Billy John Davis

B. J. Davis died peacefully at The Culpeper May 10, 2024. He was born February 22, 1940, in Galax, VA to the late Ann and John Davis. He was a graduate of Lynchburg College (University of Lynchburg) and received a M.Ed. at the University of VA. For 34 years he was a beloved teacher at Culpeper County High School where he taught English and American Civilization. During that time he also sponsored the Drama Club and coached the Forensics Team. B. J. was an active member of the community, serving on the Board of Stage Alive, the Board of Culpeper Retired Teachers, volunteering at the Culpeper Hospital and serving on various committees of the Hospital Auxiliary. He was a faithful member of Culpeper Baptist Church and served in many capacities and leadership roles for over 55 years. He is survived by his loving wife, Kathryn, of 55 years; two sisters Anita Sedlak (Jeff) of Chagrin Falls, OH and Susan Johnson (Johnny) of Leesville, LA; four brothers Jack(Angie), Charles (Temple), Bob (Denise) all of Galax, VA and Tom (Linda) of Seattle, WA; two nieces and four nephews. A Memorial Service will be held Monday, June 10, 2024 at 11:00a.m. in Culpeper Baptist Church, Culpeper, Virginia. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Culpeper Baptist Church Building Fund or to the VBH Foundation for The Culpeper Benevolence Fund, 3961 Stillman Parkway, Glen Allen VA 23060.
