Charles Benton Brown Sr.

Charles Benton (Buddy) Brown, Sr., 88, of Lignum, VA passed away at the Culpeper Health and Rehabilitation Center, Culpeper, VA on Saturday, February 22, 2014. Mr. Brown was born to Charles Martin Brown and Edna Myers Brown July 29, 1925 in Culpeper County; served his country in World War II in the U.S. Navy; retired from the U.S. Government Civil Service; was a life member of V.F.W. Post 2524; was a member of the Hopewell United Methodist Church, the Lignum Ruritan Club’ was a charter member of the Brandy Station Volunteer Fire Department and a past member of the American Legion. Mr. Brown enjoyed gardening, was an avid hunter and enjoyed softball as a dedicated supporter and coach. Surviving Mr. Brown is his wife of 63 years, Anna M. Brown of Lignum; his children, Charles B. Brown, Jr. and his wife Janet of Elkwood, VA, Cheryl Easterwood and her husband Gilbert of Lignum, Deborah Gardner and her husband Albert of Richardsville, VA, David Brown, Sr. and his wife Debra of Lorton, VA and Ralph Brown of Stafford, VA.;his six grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; his siblings, Ruth Ginter of Fredericksburg, VA, Shirley Hart of Maryland and Robert Brown of Fredericksburg, VA. He is preceded in death by his parents, his granddaughter Jennifer “Becky” Brown and his sisters Marie Alther and Gladys Truslow. Funeral services will be held in the Hopewell United Methodist Church on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Stan Munford conducting the service. Interment will be in the church cemetery with military honors provided by the V.F.W. Post 2524 Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Nathan Trible, Josh Trible, David Brown, Jr., Mike Lane, Darryl Myers and David Myers. There will be a time of family visitation on Monday, February 24, 2014, 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hopewell United Methodist Church Memorial Fund. Condolences may be offered through clore-english.com.
