Ethel Golden Smoot Hawkins

Ethel Smoot Hawkins,84, formerly of Culpeper, VA passed away at Dogwood Village, Orange, VA, Monday, Nov. 24, 2014.. Mrs. Hawkins was born in Rappahannock County, VA December 22, 1929 to George Dewey Kennedy and Ressie Mae Jenkins Kennedy. Ethel enjoyed her family and her smile grew with each generation.

Surviving Mrs. Smoot Hawkins are her children, Charles W. Smoot and his wife Pat, Barbara Jean Jenkins and her husband Doug, Jane Elizabeth Jarrell and her husband Mark, Betty Lou Gentry and her husband Mike, Thomas Jackson Smoot, Ronald Dale Smoot and his wife Tammy, Arthur Kenneth Smoot, Brenda Sue Smoot and Steven Boxley, Todd Russell Smoot and his wife Theresa, Garrison Kirk Hawkins and his wife Ginger and Fonda Gail Keyser and her husband Bruce; her siblings, John R. Kennedy, Mary Kennedy and Ruth Kennedy, 42 grandchildren, and 45 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, C.H. Smoot; her children, Curtis Lee Smoot, Douglas Wayne Smoot and a baby girl and her siblings, George William Kennedy, Robert Lee Kennedy, Louise Smoot Brooks, Ann Petty, Thomas Kennedy , Weston Eugene Kennedy and George Henry Kennedy.

The family will receive friends Friday, November 28, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Clore-English Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 29, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Clore-English Funeral Home with Pastor Kevin Dawson conducting the service. Interment will be in Hillcrest Memory Gardens, Jeffersonton, VA.
