Iris West Gordon

Iris West Brown Gordon, 95, of Culpeper, VA passed away at the Culpeper Baptist Retirement Community, Culpeper, VA on Friday, February 28, 2014. Mrs. Gordon was born to Warwick Reed West and Otelia Woodford West January 4, 1919 in Evington, VA; was a home demonstration agent for the Virginia Extension Service in Fauquier and Campbell counties, Mrs. Gordon loved her family, the outdoors, gardening and was a 1939 graduate of Madison College. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Surviving Mrs. Gordon is her daughter, Frances Laffoon and husband Steve of Tappahannock, VA; her son, William Woodford Brown and wife Eileen of West Chester, PA; step-son, Michael Gordon; step-daughter, Sherry Gordon; eight grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, John Parsons Brown, Sr. in 1964; her second husband, Horace Blair Gordon, Jr. in 2007; her son, John Parsons Brown, Jr. in 2006; and her step daughter, Vicki Tanner.

A memorial service will be held in the Clore-English Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Sandy Martin conducting the service. Interment will be private in the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery at a later date. There will be a reception following the memorial service, at the funeral home.
