

Jeannette worked for many years as a clerk for multiple area stockyards before retiring as clerk and office manager of Fredericksburg Livestock Exchange. Jeannette’s greatest joy in life was being a devoted wife, mom and grandma to her family.
Jeannette is survived by her loving husband of almost 38 years, E.W. “Sonny” Sims, Jr.; a son, Joseph S. Desper, Jr. (Amanda) of Zebulon NC; a daughter, Tammy Lynn Desper of Charlottesville; step-daughters, Cindy Sims and Elizabeth Ann Sims, of Culpeper; her beloved grandchildren, Jordan Rebecca, Jonathan Stuart, Allison Elizabeth, Andrew Joseph Desper all of Zebulon, NC who affectionately referred to her as “Grandma Nut” and Leyla Amari Joseph Epperson of Charlottesville; a brother, Earl Kirby (Cindy), sisters–in-law, Norma Kirby and Betty Loving; brothers-in law, Wayne Desper (Peggy) and David Desper (Tim); several nephews and nieces; and special friends, Jack and Debbie Fincham.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, J. Stuart Desper; a sister, Ruth Barker; a step-son, Edgar W Sims, III; son-in-law, Jeff DeShields; and mothers-in-law, Dorothy Vess Desper and Beulah E. Sims.
Visitation with the family will be 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 22, 2021, at Clore-English Funeral Home, 11190 James Monroe Highway, Culpeper, Virginia followed by a memorial service at 1:00 p.m., led by Robert "Pete" Almond.
