John W. Stephens

John Wesley Stephens, 81, of Culpeper, VA passed away Monday, September 3, 2012. John was born in Watauga County, North Carolina to Eugene Roosevelt Stephens, deceased, and Lucille Lookabill Stephens, deceased, on September 3, 1931. John was employed by the Town of Culpeper in the water department for 35 years. Her was a life time member of the Culpeper Volunteer Fire Department and a member of Hopewell United Methodist Church in North Carolina. He had an interest in Civil War history, hunting, fishing and he dearly loved his cats.

Surviving John is his devoted wife of 44 hears, Ingeborg “Inge” Stephens of Culpeper, VA; his siblings, Joseph Stephens and his wife Vera of Culpeper, VA, Jewell Haynes and her husband Russell of Culpeper, VA, George Stephens and his wife Inge of Pinson, AL, Douglas Stephens and his wife Carolyn of Culpeper, VA Carrie Wilson and her husband Paul of South Hill, VA, Margie Holipski and her husband Leonard of Bristow, VA and Nancy Stephens of Culpeper, VA and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services will be held Thursday, September 6, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in Fairview Cemetery, Culpeper, VA with Rev. Jeff Light conducting the service.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 5, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Clore-English Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions should be made to the Culpeper Volunteer Fire Department, 151 West Davis Street, Culpeper, VA 22701 or to the Novum Baptist Church, 1629 Novum Church Road, Reva, VA 22735.
