

Jon is survived by his parents Lieutenant Colonel Karl Masters, USA (Retired) and Major Denise Verret, USAR (Retired); his siblings Specialist Kristina Ragan, Ms. Nellya Masters and Mr. Christian (Laurel) Masters; his nieces, Natasha and Natalia; his paternal grandparents Lieutenant Colonel and Mrs. Barbara Masters; his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Verret, Jr. and Ms. Suzanne Verret; and his fiancé Ms. Jessica Blair.
Jon was born in Tula, Russia on September 27, 1994. He was welcomed into our family and arrived in the United States on June 19, 1998. Jon attended Emerald Hill Elementary School and Culpeper Middle School. Jon graduated from Eastern View High School in Culpeper, Virginia with the class of 2013 where he was a member of the United States Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps Drill Team. He served on the Color Guard and Armed Regulation Team. After graduation, Jon joined the United States Army and served as a combat engineer with the 41st Route Clearance Company, 1st Engineer Battalion, in the First Infantry Division at Fort Riley, Kansas.
Jon was on the Eastern View cross country team and as a Senior he was awarded the Lifetime Fitness Award. He maintained his passion for running. He was known for his military bearing and discipline. Jon approached life enthusiastically. He was gregarious and had an infectious laugh. He was a caring and comforting listener and a good friend. He had a special love for his brother and sisters and his aunts, uncles and cousins. Jon will be deeply missed by his family and many friends.
A memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m., September 7, 2016, at Clore-English Funeral Home, 11190 James Monroe Highway, Culpeper, VA 22701 with Reverend Jessica S. Colwell officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Father Kevin Devine at 11:00 a.m., September 8, 2016, at Ascension Catholic Church, 12700 Lanham Severn Road, Bowie, MD 20720. Jon will be laid to rest beside his uncle and namesake, Jonathan Edward Masters, on September 8, 2016, at 1:00 p.m. at Saint Barnabas Church Cemetery, 1411 Oak Grove Road, Upper Marlboro, MD 20774.
