Joseph Patrick Roseberry, age 72, passed away on September 11, 2024, after a courageous 7 year battle with cancer. Joe was born on January 27, 1952 in San Mateo, California to Donald D. and Mary Augusta (Maschke) Roseberry.
Due to his father’s career move, Joe spent the majority of his young life in the Fairfax/Falls Church area. After completion of high school, he was drafted into the U.S. Army to serve during the Vietnam conflict. After his service to his country, Joe attended George Mason University, where he received a B.S.N. and proudly worked as a registered nurse in the operating room, first at INOVA Fairfax, then VASC in Charlottesville, then Joe moved on to UVA Culpeper hospital and worked there for over 12 years. Joe retired in 2021 from Monticello Surgery Center. For 41 years, Joe took superb care of his patients and was an excellent colleague and coworker.
After retirement, Joe devoted his time to taking care of his wife, spending time working on his beloved cars with his daughter, Shannon, and sharing his love of music with his son, Nathaniel. Joe also had a passion for reading, especially reading about history and used that knowledge of WWII during his vacation to Europe this past summer, where he was honored to walk the ground where so many brave men had walked before him. Joe leaves behind, to deeply mourn his loss, his wife Melissa; his children Nathaniel (Ali) Roseberry, Shannon Roseberry; step children Tiffany (Jerry) Ennis, Raven (John) Pham, Joshua (Vanessa) Blackburn; 8 grandchildren; 5 sisters; and his beloved dogs Beau, Skylar and Melvin, who were his constant companions; as well as, extended family and many friends.
A special thank you to Dr. Pranav Patel and Lisa Whitcomb, RN, of Hope Cancer Center at UVA Culpeper Medical Center for all the wonderful care that Joe received during his journey. Services will be held at a later date. Interment will be at the Culpeper National Cemetery. The family asks in lieu of flowers, please consider donating to your local animal shelter or to the Hope Cancer Center at UVA Culpeper Medical Center.
