

Lieutenant Commander Roy Walton Jamison U.S.C.G (Ret.) 70, passed away at UVA Medical Center on January 5, 2016 after an extended illness. Walton was born on January 20, 1945 in Salem, Virginia to Roy F. and Clara Mae “Peggy” Jamison, who proceeded him in death. He enlisted in the United States Coast Guard in 1966 as a Fireman Apprentice; He served his career on several cutters and stations, rising to rank of Chief Petty Officer before being promoted to Chief Warrant Officer and then again to Lieutenant, retiring a LCDR (Mustang) in 1994 after 29 years of service. After retiring from the USCG, Roy went on to work for the Virginia Department of Corrections at Coffeewood Correctional Center, where he started as a corrections officer before retiring again as Operations Officer.
Roy was a devoted parishioner of the Culpeper Baptist Church, where he was a Sunday school teacher, deacon, and member of the Lord’s Supper committee. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 51 years Joyce B. Jamison; His two sons and their families, Roy Todd Jamison (Army) and his son Roy B. Jamison (PO3 USCG) and Robert Joel Jamison and his wife Pearl along with their two daughters Taylor J. and Lauren R. Jamison. He is also survived by his younger brother James D. Jamison, his wife Brenda and their daughter Emily.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until service time, Tuesday, January 12 , 2016, at Clore-English Funeral Home with funeral services at 1:00 p.m. in the Clore-English Chapel with Pastor Dan Carlton from Culpeper Baptist Church officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Culpeper National Cemetery (new grounds) with military honors provided by the U.S.C.G. Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions may be made to the Culpeper Baptist Church Building Fund, 318 S. West Street, Culpeper, VA 22701 or any charity of your choice. The family has entrusted Clore-English Funeral Home with these arrangements.
