Chris was professionally known as Chris Kim A. While always being artistically inclined from a very early age, Chris managed to work several years in the paging beeper industry before deciding art would be his focus. He worked on several Hollywood productions, mostly television, with George Schlatter Productions and worked extensively with CMH Records on cover art for multiple releases. His most recent work included movie posters and promotional material for major studios through his affiliation with Kiper/Lascu Design. Many other independent projects were completed for composers, musicians, authors and anyone who needed something a little unique in their graphic design project.
He loved and cherished his nieces, Katie and Jessica, and cheered them on, encouraged, mentored, and occasionally irritated them like uncles are supposed to do. He loved his friends and was fiercely loyal. He enjoyed his close friends in the program and those he was able to sponsor along the way. The annual Men’s Retreat was the highpoint of his year.
Chris was preceded in death by his Dad, Howard Kim, his mom, Suzanne Bartley, stepfather Paul Bartley and stepmother Ann Kim. He is survived by his brother Bill Kim, sister-in-law Jennifer, nieces Katie and Jessica Kim, of Oak Grove, MO. The surviving family also includes Mark Raddant and his entire family, and Mike McElhone. We would also like to say a sincere thank you to his neighbors who showed up above and beyond these last several months.
We will be celebrating Chris in the Spring when the weather in Missouri is not unlike the weather he so loved in Southern California. While Chris advocated for many people, we are recommending memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
