In Loving Memory of Ina Phyllis Garcia. Sunrise: December 20, 1938 ~ Sunset: April 29, 2015 Obituary (A Short Story of 76 Years) Ina Phyllis Garcia was born in Bronx, New York on December 20, 1938. Her parents were Albert and Judith Schmidt and her younger brother David. Ina’s first words were, “Oh Hell” and “Awe Nuts.” She was so cute and tiny, like a little doll. She was raised in a precious Jewish family. They moved to Los Angeles in 1942. Ina grew up in West Los Angeles and graduated from University High in 1956. She was called “Chiquita” in High School. On August 24, 1957, Ina married Mauro Garcia who was born and raised in Santa Monica, California. Mauro was the love of her life. Doctors said, she could never have children, because of her size and bone structure. When she became pregnant, the specialist at UCLA told her, the baby would die. The Doctors said, you must have an abortion. Ina refused, she believed God would give her a family and by faith, she had three miracle children, Mark, Richard and Daniel. She stayed home and raised her family. She was a Baseball Mother, and helped pioneer North Venice Little League where the boy’s played. In those years, when Mauro and Ina wouldn’t come home at night, the boys could find them at the Lost and Found, a local Bar. In 1976, Ina desired her career. She had the Gift of Administration. She was General Manager of Kensington Hotel and the Flamingo Hotel in Santa Monica. In the early 1980’s she made history becoming the first woman Director of Corporate Personnel and Human Resources, for the U.S. Division of C.itoh International Japanese Electronics Company in Orange County. Unfortunately, trouble was brewing and the devil began to destroy her marriage and family. She separated from Mauro and wanted a divorce. Her three sons were out of control on drugs, alcohol, violence and crime. However, what the devil meant for evil, God turned it around for the good! God heard the cry of her heart! God sent Pastor Mitchell & Nellie Peterson and Brian & Vivian Villalobos from Victory Outreach. They reached out to Mark and he had a miracle conversion. Mark led Ina to the Lord and Rick got saved. Then Mauro had a powerful life changing experience with the Lord Jesus Christ and God restored their marriage. And last, but not least Daniel got saved. The whole family is saved and walking with the Lord. The rest is history. To God Be The Glory! In 1988, Mauro and Ina moved to Desert Hot Springs, California and entered a new season of their lives. They started Desert View Properties a Real Estate business. They have since grown deep roots and have a successful business. Ina was very committed to the ministry. She was a soul winner, prayer warrior, teacher and United We Can coordinator raising finances for missions and world evangelism. Ina loved God with all her heart and soul. She leaves behind the love of her life Mauro, Mark, Richard and Daniel and her daughter-in-laws Linda and Juana. Grandma Ina loved and told everyone that she had 14 Grandchildren, Joshua, Molly, Marky, Sammy, Sarah, Angela, Hannah, Ricky, Christopher, Gabriel, Ashley, Jacob, Joshua, Amanda and her 3 Great Grandchildren Javen, Allana and Violet. She would say, each grandchild was unique and wonderfully made. She shared words of wisdom and continually prayed for their salvation. Ina was a Child of God, Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. She was full of wisdom and faith and committed to Victory Outreach International. Mama Ina was a mother to the motherless and friend to the lonely. She had such a giving heart and helped countless people! Well done good and faithful servant! Her heart’s desire was and is, that you would know the love of God as she did! The Garcia Family would like to thank our friends and family for your prayer, support and celebrating her homecoming with us!
