Lauren Sue Feder Haarpaintner, 55, born in Durham, North Carolina, passed away November 28 after a humbling experience with cancer. She was born on February 24, 1959 to Robert and Ellie Feder Davis . Lauren graduated from Beverly Hills High School and went on to receive a Bachelor degree from the University of California Santa Barbara and her Medical degree for the University of Guadalajara. She married Rene Haarpaintner on March 21, 1991.

Lauren’s kindness, clarity, strength and conviction affected and helped all she touched. She took great pride in creating The Center for Natural Family Medicine where patients could come and receive sound counsel on medical issues and receive the most nurturing medical care. In her spare time she loved to go to church, take walks and most of all spend time with her family and friends. Lauren wrote hundreds of articles, did many interviews and published three books.

Lauren is survived by her two sons Etienne and Quentin, her loving husband Rene, her brother Todd, her sister Sherry. Her wonderful spirit, joy, and talents will be celebrated at a 10 am Mass service Saturday December 6th, 2014 at St. Brendan’s Catholic Church, 310 S. The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to one of Lauren’s favorite charities, The Society of Saint Vincent DePaul in order to send less privileged children to summer camp. Dr. Feder was an amazing, inspiring, dynamic, intelligent, strong, convicted, and compassionate woman, with a beautiful heart and profound soul. She forever changed my life. I grew to love her, and am so grateful for the knowledge she gave to me, and the extraordinary journey toward healing that she guided me on. I can't imagine my life without her in it. She will be greatly missed, but we shared a strong Faith in God, and I believe I will see her again.

I just found out today about Lauren's passing. I am so saddened by the profound loss of her in this world.
We met Dr. Lauren just after our son was born. He's now 13. I have years of memories. . . It was wonderful to have Lauren as our Doc. She delighted in my son as I'm sure she did with all her patients. Being a physician was personal for her. She connected. I'll always remember her sweet laughter and smile, her quiet and searching, gentle and loving presence. Lauren was an amazing homeopath. instinctive and intuitive. She never seemed to stress about choosing a remedy, but had a way of finding her way and trusting . . . I learned a lot from her and Lauren will always be a role model and teacher for me. I admire her strength and courage - yet she moved in the world in a gentle, kind and loving way. Love and blessings to you, Lauren, on your journey. Thank you so much for your love and care. You are loved and will always be missed. Love and prayers to your family.

I am so sad to hear the news. I was only a patient of hers for the past year, and I was so impressed with her, more so than any other doctor I had ever been to. It was easy to see she cared deeply about her patients. My thoughts go out to her family and friends.

Dr. Feder changed my health and quality of life drastically for the better over the course of several years as her patient with autoimmune diseases that plagued me for many years. She was one in a million. We are devastated by this loss and can only imagine her family is that much more so.

I had a wellness appointment for my 18 month old daughter at the Center for Natural Family Medicine yesterday. I was so excited to see if Lauren was back in the office. I don't have the words to describe what I was experiencing when the office clerk informed me of her passing. I woke up several times last night haunted that Lauren was no longer with us. My daughter was in her care for less than a year, yet still, she had such a profound impact.

To Lauren's family: May you find peace. This is important because Lauren would not want those she loved so dear to suffer over her. In this way, she can find peace too.

To Lauren: Simply, thank you. The appreciation and gratitude I feel at having the opportunity to know and be cared for by such a magnificent soul is immeasurable. You are missed, loved and forever in our hearts!

Just found out about Dr. Lauren's passing and am shocked and deeply saddened. We loved her and felt safe in her care, where many doctors laughed at us or turned us away. She was a gift to the world and I am so grateful our paths crossed. She will be missed. Loving thoughts to her children and family.

Dr. Feder you are my angel! You were the only person who welcomed me and my new born daughter in with open arms when 5 other doctors shut their door on us. You allowed me to be the mother I wanted to be and make my own decisions for my child. You guided me to be the best care giver to my child and for that I will be forever greatful to you. We have all been blessed to have been in your presence, and will continue to be with your spirit!
My thoughts and prayers go out to your dear family. Please find comfort knowing that she has made such an impact on so many people's lives. Her memory and legacy will live for many time to come.
