Maria Guadalupe Ibarra Sierra known as Lupe was born in El Amparo, Jalisco Mexico. Lupe died on Saturday, October 3, 2015 at Country Villa Nursing Home in Los Angeles. She was 84 years old. Born and raised in Mexico, daughter of Macedonio Sierra and Maria Luisa Arquieta, she was the 10th child of 13 siblings. She married the love of her life, Ramon Ibarra Jimenez, in 1956. They were married for 25 years before he passed away. As a young widow, she raised her children by taking on several jobs as a nanny, night custodian and sewing. They had a total of 6 children. Two of them, Lupita and Ramon, are already united with their parents in heaven. Lupe was a woman with a strong character. She was a fighter and she faced challenges with courage and determination. She had a familiar saying “always look forward, never look back” in Spanish “siempre pa’ delante, nunca para atras”. Her goal of traveling became a reality when she and her daughter Teresa went overseas to Greece, Egypt and Jerusalem. It was an experience of a lifetime. Lupe’s biggest hobby was her gardening. She enjoyed working with good soil and potting plants. For every seed she planted she was thankful to see the living gift from mother-nature. Lupe’s favorite time was the one she spent with her grandchildren. She was known as Buba by her grandkids - a term of endearment for grandma. The grandkids knew that grandma would never let them leave her house without her blessing known to the kids as “la bendicion”- a habit she continued at the nursing home with all her wonderful caregivers and nurses. She is survived by her brother Mario Sierra; (4) of her children, Sara, Ana, Teresa and Leonel; (9) grandchildren, Diana, Estevan, Horacio, Andres, Isabell, Inez, Rene, Clarissa and Sebastian; (2) daughters-in-law, Carmen Areola and Carmen Medina, and (2) sons-in-law Alfonso and Hamoudeh.
