He was proud to be an Irish Catholic and to have served as an altar server at St. Lawrence Catholic grade school. Bob's middle name
was Patrick and he was called "Pat" by his family and friends. But when he enrolled at Central Catholic High School one of his teachers
told him he would not give him a grade unless he used his first name. So from then on he was known as Bob. However, his family and
childhood friends, including Phil Prudhomme and Pat Tabor, continued to call him Pat. This got quite confusing to say the least.
In 1960 Bob took the trip of a lifetime with his high school buddy, Anselmo Pizzuti, who was born in Italy. In June they took the train
from Portland to New York and crossed the Atlantic on the Queen Mary. They bought a small sports car and spent the summer visiting
with Anselmo's relatives and seeing the sights. On June 14, 1969 Bob married Judith Ann Linkey whom he met at a Catholic young
people's club. In 1972 they moved to Santa Monica where they enjoyed seeing the sun come out almost every day.
Bob was friendly and outgoing and enjoyed working as a sales representative and merchandiser for many years. When he was
diagnosed with acute leukemia he did not complain. He said he did not know why this happened to him but he accepted it.
He was told to avoid crowds but he looked forward to getting the Sunday Mass on tv every week and to receiving Holy Communion
at home from a Eucharistic Minister several times a month. Bob received the Anointing of the Sick on 1-7-16. He knew the Priest
was there and he tried to say the prayers with him. Bob passed away on 1-12-16. He is survived by his wife, Judith, his sister,
Kathy Panko, niece, Sherry Navarro, nephew, Mark Panko, nephew, Mike Panko and niece, Debbie Shedd.
