Born in Atholville on May 5th, 1935, daughter of the late Frank Arseneault and Zita Gallant.
Bertha was a homemaker with a big heart and a generous nature. The people around her knew that she was a passionate world traveler, always ready to go, never refusing an outing. She loved to chat about her adventures. When she was not globetrotting, she was involved as a lioness, active in curling, bowling, cross country skiing and walking. She loved to spend time with friends and family playing cards or assembled for some serious bingo. She always had a house full of family and friends at holiday gatherings where they enjoyed her wonderful cooking and baking. If you could not find Bertha, she was likely in a department store fulfilling her love of shopping.
She is survived by her children Karen (late Marcel), Ken (Colette), Mike (Nancy), Kevin (Taras), David (Monique), Darlene and Darren (Joanne). She will also be missed by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her infant son.
Our family would like to express our gratitude to the staff of the Renaissance Nursing Home for all of their wonderful care. Our mother often expressed that they were more like family than caregivers.
Following her wishes, there will be no funeral mass or memorial. A private graveside service will be held at a later date for the immediate family.
Donations in Bertha’s memory can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted in the care of Maher’s funeral Home, Dalhousie
