Faye Carpenter Cook, age 92, was called home by her Lord and Savior on Friday ~ January 10, 2020 at the Catawba Valley Medical Center in Hickory, North Carolina.
Faye was a Lifetime Member of Long Creek Memorial Baptist Church and prior to her passing, she was the oldest member at Long Creek Memorial Baptist Church. When she was an active member, Faye helped establish and oversaw the nursery. Faye loved working in her beautiful flowers and her hearty vegetable garden. She would can and freeze her vegetables every year and share with her family and friends. She was a talented lady who enjoyed making her crafts, working puzzles, crocheting, needle pointing and sewing. Faye has left a positive impression in this world and will be greatly missed by everyone who ever met her.
Those left behind to carry on Faye’s legacy are her daughter and son in law: Linda and Jimmy Young of Taylorsville, North Carolina; her son and daughter in law: Steve and Deann Cook of Dallas, North Carolina; three grandchildren: Alex Cook, Mackenzie Young and Jordan Young: great niece and namesake to Faye: Allison ‘Allie’ Grace Ashe; along with several other special nieces and nephews.
Faye was the daughter of the late William Larkin Carpenter and Lela Payseur Carpenter. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 20 years, Reynolds Sheldon Cook, one sister, Polly Jenkins and two brothers, Everette Carpenter and Wayne Carpenter.
A Life Well Celebrated Ceremony will be held at 3:00 PM, Tuesday ~ January 14, 2020 at the Long Creek Memorial Baptist Church, 210 Long Creek Church Road, Dallas, North Carolina 28034 with Reverend Heath Honeycutt and Reverend Robert Baker delivering words of hope and comfort to Faye’s family and friends. Music under the direction of Lynn Rowland and Mike Woolbright. Active pallbearers are Justin Ashe, Patrick Ashe, Alex Cook, Tim Rowland, Jimmy Young and Jordan Young.
Graveside and committal services will follow at Hollywood Cemetery, 540 North Broad Street, Gastonia, North Carolina.
The family will receive guests from 1:30 PM ~ 2:45 PM prior to the service.
To all the angels at Conover Nursing and Rehab, many thanks and all our love for the kindness and care you have shown to our mom while she was there. Your rewards in Heaven will be great and your crowns will be many. A very special 'Thank You' to her niece Joanne Ashe for all the help she gave to our mom while she was in the nursing and rehab center.
