

Ruby Stillwell was a woman of strong faith who loved her church family, her Tuesday morning seniors group; the Dallas Morning Glory’s and was a special Charter Member of Gaston Baptist Church in Dallas. Ruby Jenkins Stillwell went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at the beautiful age of 100. She was born in Gaston County on August 31, 2017 to the late James and Ella Mae (Pendleton) Jenkins. Ruby loved gardening and any kind of yard work. She was a wonderful devoted mother and grandmother and all her family loved to gather at her home every Sunday to visit. She loved to travel and went on many trips with family and friends. Besides going to the beach one of her favorite trips was to go with all five of her daughters to Gatlinburg and spend time making memories. All who knew and loved Ruby will miss her dearly.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her five daughters, Sylvia McNabb of Gastonia, Gloria Gholson of Dallas, Brenda Cloninger (Ronald) of Dallas, Phyllis Thompson (Jerry) of Dallas, and Vickie Lineberger (Lewis) of Dallas; 17 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Floyd Stillwell, son-in-law, Bill Gholson; two grandchildren, Doug Gholson and Steve Gholson; four sisters and one brother.
A celebration of her life will be held at 3:00 PM, Saturday, September 9, 2017 at Gaston Baptist Church in Dallas. Reverend Richard Gaddis will preside. A private interment will follow at Hollywood Cemetery in Gastonia with special remarks by Reverend Hazel Boyd. The family wishes to express a special thank you to Reverend Jim Loftis for his kindness and visits to Ruby.
The family will receive friends from 1:00-3:00 PM prior to the service at the church.
