Adam was raised in the farming community of Bellflower, MO and the Greater St. Louis area. After high school, he graduated from Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield, MO with a BS in Interior Design. Soon after college he moved to Dallas, TX a city he fell in love with after visiting on a college academic field trip. In Dallas, he worked several years in the telecommunications industry, followed by commercial real estate property management, and in later years as a Dallas realtor. All the while providing gracious, voluntary help of all kinds to family and friends, a trait inherited from his parent’s ministerial passion. He enjoyed being happy and light hearted. After recovering from a car crash during college that miraculously did not leave him paralyzed, he valued each day and reminded others to choose happiness, and to get up and go.
Adam married Carlos Adan Villanueva on February 16, 2020 in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, a place he absolutely adored, surrounded by close family and friends. Adam openly conveyed that the ceremony and days surrounding it were truly some of the most heartfelt and special moments of his life.
In short, Adam loved. He also enjoyed notable passions including:
● Family, Friends and Heritage – Once in the fold he loved family and friends with all his heart and showed it through loyalty, acts of kindness and generosity. He encouraged all to embrace and be proud of their heritage. While brutally honest at times, his intention was always rooted in love. He adored and showed much affection to his pet cats Ricky and Sudie, and dog Lucas.
● Home – A labor of love, he spent countless hours improving and creating his home environment – an inside filled with color, tasteful furnishings and art, to an outside lush with various plants, planters and furnishings. Everything situated to his liking, and all done on a budget! He often graciously extended this passion and talent by helping others with their home projects.
● Travel – Sparked in part by his recollection of family summer vacations as a child, he loved to travel, learn and embrace other cultures. Fortunately, he enjoyed travel across much of the U.S. including Hawaii (a favorite), and internationally to New Zealand, Australia, Brazil, Tahiti, Mexico (a favorite) and the Caribbean.
● Dallas / DFW, and Cars – An unofficial ambassador, he was “in the know” about local history, economic development, and area events. He regularly shared local news and events on social media and attended all local events he could. He enjoyed cars, a passion he shared with his father. He took pride in keeping his cars clean and picture worthy. Anyone car shopping could count on him for good car advice, tailored to them.
● Grace and Gratitude, Arts and Humanity – Adam valued liberal arts, good grammar and writing. In high school he played percussion and his love of music remained central to his well-being. Most importantly, sparked by his admiration of Olivia Newton-John, he shared her belief that music has the power to heal by calming our minds, lifting our spirits and connecting our hearts. He often reminded us we are all pearls on a chain, words that convey a warmth in the heart and the connection we all share in the Universe.
