

Adge P. Barnes was born on December 15, 1947 to Henry and Edell Barnes in Marianna, Fl. He was the second youngest of 9 preceded by Henry Jr., George, Daniel, Margret, Johnnie May , Indianna, Urma, then his little sister, Audrey Yvette. Adge (age 25) married Patricia (age 22) where they remained married 45 years eventually settling in Dallas, TX. Together, they raised 3 boys, Patrick Barnes Jr., Reshard Barnes and DeShunn Barnes. "Eddie Barnes" was a father figure to many and frequently gathered others to his home in Dallas every Sunday to prepare meals and a place for memories.
He attended Union Grove High school in Greenwood, Fl. and was drafted into the Army in 1965 to serve his country after completing school. He was a cook, a platoon sergeant and a logistics sergeant while serving in the Army and proudly served 2 terms in the First Calvary during his time in Vietnam. Over his military career he served in multiple locations including Texas, Germany, Kentucky, Hawaii, Colorado, Italy, and Philadelphia where he retired after 22 and 1/2 years of service. Eddie was honorably discharged and retired at the rank of Sergeant First Class in 1988. He then began his career as a postal worker in 1990 and spent the majority of his 25-year career at the DeSoto Post Office where he retired in 2015.
He is survived by: his wife, Patricia, children, Patrick & Percilla Barnes, Reshard & Zorisha Barnes and DeShunn & Kimberly Barnes, six grandchildren, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and a multitude of nephews, nieces, family and "adopted" children.
