

Dr. Albert Ray Hilton Jr., age 88, passed away November 23, 2018, at his home in Richardson, TX. He was a fifth generation Texan born in Houston, TX, September 3, 1930, to Albert Ray Hilton Sr. and Ruth Elizabeth Lincecum. Ray grew up in Houston, TX. He graduated from Steven F. Austin High School in Houston, TX, in 1948. Ray Attended Texas A & M University, where he received a Masters Degree in 1957 and Doctorate in Physical Chemistry in 1959. He was active duty Air Force in 1953 and served years 2 years with the rank of Lieutenant. He began work at Standard Oil Company and eventually moved to Richardson, TX, in 1960, where he worked for Texas Instruments as a Senior Scientist for 18 years. Ray started Amorphous Materials, Inc. in 1978. The company has remained in business for more than 40 years and received numerous awards. He presented many papers to national and international seminars and authored the book “Chalcogenide Glasses for Infrared Optics”. He was an internationally known and respected scientist with multiple patents in the field of Infrared Optics. Ray married Madora Bull August 31, 1951. They were happily married for 67 years. He is survived by his beloved spouse, Madora, and their children, Gail Hanna of Winona, TX, Pam Klein of Plano, TX, Ray Hilton III and spouse Terri of Plano, TX, and Mark Hilton and spouse Karen of Plano, TX. He has 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren and many adored nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by sister Dorothy Clemons of Pasadena, TX, and brother Addison (Sonny) Hilton of Houston, TX. A visitation will be held at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home in Dallas, TX, on Wed., November 28th, 2018, from 5:00-8:00pm. Funeral services will be held Thurs., November 29th, 2018, at First United Methodist Church in Richardson, TX, at 10:00am.
