Happy 56! I wish I could say this to you in person, but I miss you. I know your family, and other friends, miss you too. 

It’s hard to think you’d be 55 today. Happy Birthday! Folks always say that things get easier with time when one loses another, but I disagree. I got used to not having you around, but I miss you as much today as ever. Your eyes, expressions, your laugh and most of all, I miss the side of you that no one else got to see, but me. Until we meet again, ti amo e mi manchi sempre, Alex.

I ran across an older picture of you today, you had dark hair and those blue, blue eyes and I remembered meeting you back in 2000. It was one of those ones in a lifetime kinds of love. You'd make fun on me when I said you were my beginning and my end, because your initials were A.Z. When the world was dearest you'd come up with something to say or do that was so shocking and truly wonderful- it was those moments I always waited for. I think of you and smile every time I do. I hope it's sunny where you are and I hope you're wearing sunscreen (you burn so easily!) And more than anything, I hope you're happy, happy, happy! XO :)

I wish I could tell you all the greatness that's happened here in the last seven months.

I had not seen Alex in over 20-years, but was shocked to have read this recently. Used to bump into him periodically in Dallas well after graduation ('83). To his family; I wish you all the peace and calm, and to express my deep sympathy in his loss. I always thought alot of Alex, and my memory is well.  --Cobb

Mr and Mrs Zocchi,

We've never met, but I knew your wonderful son both at HP where he was a grade above me and through the FBI Citizen's Academy where we both participated.   I just learned last night of his passing and was shocked he left this world so soon.  My father died when he was 46 suddenly of a heart attack and I know that pain.

May the Peace of the Lord be always with you.  God bless you both and Alex.

I just looked through some recent emails and found one I sent him through LinkedIn when he asked me to join his network in late September. His profile consisted all of four words -- Alex Zocchi -- United States.

Well, I, of course, had to give him some flack. The subject line was Really? My response was originally intended as a snarky question  but in my rush I forgot the punctuation. Now, it's something altogether different.

I guess that sums Alex up perfectly. Still annoyed he didn't make it to our 25th reunion but he'll hear all about it when I get to the other side many decades in the future.

I went to HPHS with Alex, and also had the good fortune to work with him at the Courthouse. He was kind to me and we shared many laughs, being old classmates; we shared a common bond. In both groups, Alex made his presence known in the best sort of way, through steady, quiet dignity. I was thinking of him today and enjoyed reading the previous entries into this Guest Book; you could keep it open for a year and many of the same thoughts would come oozing through the lines. Life and humans are so complicated. But that is what makes them special; Alex was a unique person and a good man who made much of his time on earth. The proof, we would say, is in the testimony here.  He will be missed. God bless you in your grief.

I am shocked and saddened to have just learned about Alex passing away. I met Alex through the FBICAAA and am thankful for the opportunity to have known him. He will be missed! May God bless you all with his grace and mercy during this difficult time.

I attended our 25th reunion at Vanderbilt this weekend.  All of his Phi Kap brothers felt a deep sense of loss at Alex's passing.  Thank you for sharing him with us over the past 29 years.  We attempted to honor and memorialize him and the university kindly assisted.  Please accept my sincerest condolences.

Every five years for the past 25 years, there has been one constant in my life aside from taxes. I could always count on running into Alex at our Vanderbilt reunions. 

He was always there with a smile and a quip. Years would come and go but I could always count on him to liven things up. 

At our 10th reunion, he in a fit of sentimentality felt compelled to drag me to see his senior dorm suite in Carmichael Tower 4 while it was UNDER RENOVATION. After all, what's a college reunion without a little illegal trespassing? 

So, it was more than a little devastating to learn that he had passed away less than a week before our 25th anniversary. Just last month, he had inquired as to whether I would be there. My life in Brooklyn at the time was all kinds of crazy (not a new thing for him to hear from me) so I was uncertain I could attend.

A few weeks later, everything fell into place. Not only was I going back to Nashville but it would be a stop on my way out of New York and to a new life in Colorado. For years, Alex had nagged me about visiting Dallas. I always had excuses -- my hair wasn't big enough, I was allergic to AquaNet. Well, my friend, I'll be in Denver tomorrow. Where are you? 

Alex was not only a brilliant man with a wicked wit but a great all-around soul, which our world needs more of. In retrospect, I wish I had visited him in Dallas or at least dropped him an email earlier this month to tell him I would be in Nashville and was looking forward to seeing him. Unfortunately, I took for granted he'd be there. Now, he'll never be back. 

Rest in peace, my friend. We love you and will miss you tremendously. Too bad I never had the chance to tell you that.

Alex was a great and Good leader in the community

I worked with Alex when he was an Environmental Professional with ICF Kaiser Engineers. Even then he was dedicated to his profession and fun to be around with. he used to show me several Asian resturants that he discovered with his marshall arts involvement and I in turn took many gusts to those places. May God rest his soul.

Mr. Zocchi you will be missed greatly... Prayers are with your family...

Alex, you are loved and will be missed by so many.  You were always encouraging, respectful, smart, loyal, wity, dedicated, and kind.  Thank you for being a friend and for being the perfect person in the "anchor" position for our High School class.

Alex was a captain on my first wrestling team in 1982-83 at Highland Park High School. I liked him instantly when he showed up for that first wrestling practice. For thirty years he has been a loyal friend and supporter of me, my family and the many wrestlers I coached.He was one of the pillars upon which the HP wrestling team was built. Alex exemplified everything the program stood for: hard work, determination, loyalty, integrity, and excellence.His passing greatly saddens me but his life and the example he set on how to live an exemplary life made me a better man and I am truly grateful for that.

Deepest condolences. I met Alex in High School, and I worked with him for several years in Dallas County.

Alex was a gentleman and a man of his word.  He would always ask about your parents and go to their funerals when they passed away; ask about your kids and buy their raffle tickets and candy; he was an unfailing public servant who never sought attention for himself.

I was immensely proud the day Alex told his subordinates and the probation department that he trusted me completely and they could rely on my word, because he did. His tragic death implores me examine my own conduct and priorities.  So, today I shall.

May the light of God shine upon you, Alex, and may you reside in peace forever. Amen.

Please accept our deepest sympathy. Alex was a gentleman always. He was a man of great integrity. He was one of the first persons we met as young prosecutors in 1994, and he was kind to everyone he met. He will be greatly missed. Your family is in our prayers.

I first met Alex several years ago when he prosecuted the person who attacked my father at the scene of an accident before fleeing before fleeing the scene.  Alex went out of his way to handle the case professionally, personally visiting my father at home, and successfully convicting the defendant.  As a police officer, I found Alex to be so intelligent that I began relying on his expertise whenever I had a legal question.  He was always willing to help.  He was a great man.

Alex was a superb lawyer, athlete, and friend - generous, knowledgeable, and decent in all respects.  He was unique and irreplaceable.

Alex was my first chief at the District Attorney's office and taught me many important lessons in life.  He was a fine prosecutor, public servant and person.  I am blessed to have worked with Alex and to have known him. Peace.

I will never forget the  powerful conversation I had with Alex last, the first Lawyer I ever had, he spoke humbly and truthful, I couldn't help but cry because even though I had made one of the biggest mistakes of my life with just a few word he changed my whole outlook on life, Alex said," you are a smart person that just made a bad mistake its not the end of the world everyone makes mistakes its what you do from here on out".
