

Alfred Louis Ruebel II, 82, died peacefully on February 4, 2015. He was the son of Spencer and Margaret Ruebel. Al was an incredibly talented musician who played the trumpet and piano; he loved tennis and traveling. Al graduated from Highland Park HS in 1949, UT Austin in 1953 and UT Law School in 1955. He was a member of Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity. He served in the United States Air Force and the Reserves as a Lt. Colonel for the Judge Advocate General’s Dept. He was awarded the General Harmon Award at the Pentagon in 1980 for Most Outstanding Reserve Judge Advocate. He served as Assistant City Attorney for Dallas. Al was a member of the American, Texas and Dallas Bar Associations while a partner with Erhard, Ruebel & Jennings. He was a lifelong resident of the Park Cities. He was a member of Highland Park United Methodist Church, Dallas Country Club, and the Calyx and Dervish Clubs. He was former president of the Dallas Chapter and former governor of the North Texas District of Sertoma International. Al is survived by the wife he adored of 56 years, Sandra Madge Hall Ruebel, their children: son Darin & Margot Ruebel , children Haley & Ian; daughter Sloane & Ron Cathcart, children Tori, Robert & Elise; daughter Lolly & Jeff Landwehr, children Spencer & Marshall, sister Eileen and Michaux Nash and several nieces and nephews. He will be remembered for his love of music, dancing & laughter. Visitation will be held at Sparkman Hillcrest Funeral Home from 6-8pm on Friday. A Memorial Service will be Saturday at 10:00am in Cox Chapel at Highland Park United Methodist Church, 3300 Mockingbird Ln. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made in his honor to any animal shelter.
