

Amanda “Mandy” Colby Rodriguez was called to Heaven on January 23, 2025, at Faith Presbyterian Hospice in Dallas, Texas at 12:59 p.m. following a hard, two-year fight with breast cancer. She survived by her husband of 13 years, Anthony Rodriguez, and her eleven-year-old twin daughters, Julie and Ryleigh Rodriguez. She had two beloved pets, Charlie and Reese.
Born in Okinawa, Japan on April 20, 1983, to Michael and Nancy Colby, she was raised in Clifton, Texas. She survived by Michael (Analyn Colby) of Lakewood, Colorado, Nancy (Colby) Chovanec (Joe Chovanec) of Meridian, Texas and grandmother Mary Lou Colby of Lakewood, Colorado. She survived by her sister, Kirsten (Colby) Owens (Justin Owens) of Valley Mills, Texas and brother, Stephen Colby (Krista Colby) of Stephenville, Texas and sister Mikayla Colby of Lakewood, Colorado. Mandy also survived by her in-laws Ronald and Andrea (Dee Dee) Rodriguez of Dallas, Texas; sister-in-law Sarah (Rodriguez) Bell (Brad Bell) of Allen, Texas and sister-in-law Claudia (Rodriguez) Hoffmans (Joe Hoffmans) of Keller, Texas. She was a beloved aunt to her nieces and nephews: Zachary Bell, William Bell, Brandon Colby, Hailey Colby, Layton Owens, Caden Owens, Hannah Hoffmans and Joey Hoffmans. Mandy is also survived by her many aunts, uncles and cousins who loved her dearly.
After graduating Clifton High School, Mandy put herself through college at Tarleton State University, where she met Anthony. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Special Education. Mandy taught nine years at Barron Elementary (Plano ISD) and five years at Franklin MS, (Dallas ISD). Mandy took immense pride in her work and she forged many friendships that lasted her lifetime.
There will be a Celebration of Life at Cottonwood Creek in Allen, Texas on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at 11:00 am. Attendees are encouraged to wear her favorite color pink. She requested no flowers; instead, she preferred donations be made to the gofund me to cover medical and other costs, as well as money to support her daughters’ post high school plans.
