Azucena “Suzy” Lopez, age 84, passed away on January 18, 2026, surrounded by those who loved her. She was born on September 7, 1941, in Mendoza, Argentina, to Tomas and Josefa Fiore, and was raised there. She worked as a teacher until she married Gonzalo Lopez in 1965, and moved to the US, living first in Rochester, New York, and then moving to Irving, Texas, as Gonzalo completed his medical training. They had four children, and Suzy was a dedicated homemaker, supporting her family with her delicious cooking but also maintaining the connection to the family that remained in Argentina. She was most proud of her children and their accomplishments. Suzy and Gonzalo remained married until his passing in 1998.
Fortunately, Suzy was blessed with a second chance at love when she met Manuel Ramirez. They married in 2003, and spent their early years chasing grandbabies, dancing, traveling, and making friends all over the world. More recently, he cared for her through her illness; even as dementia stole her memories, he played music for her and delighted in her dancing and her radiant smile. He was steadfast in his support and was at her side when she passed peacefully. Suzy will be remembered for the sparkle in her eye, her cheerful humor, and her very generous hospitality.
She is preceded in death by her first husband Dr. Gonzalo Lopez, precious son Jorge Lopez, and parents Tomas and Josefa Fiore.
She is survived by her second husband Manuel Ramirez, brother Enrique (Delia) Fiore, sons Carlos (Ruth) Lopez and Alex (Shannon) Lopez, daughter Monica (David) Patrick, twelve grandchildren and one step-grandson.
