

Barbara Reed King was born on December 17, 1948, in Waco, Texas, to Willie White and Rosie Lee Simmons, who both preceded her in death. She graduated from La Vega High School in Waco, TX in 1967. She later moved to Dallas, TX where she met the love her life Donald Ray King. They married on February 14, 1972. To this union they were blessed with Edward and Kimberly.Barbara began her spiritual walk and accepted Christ at an early age. She was a member of the Mountain Creek Fellowship Baptist Church in Duncanville, TX.
After being employed at Horchow Retail Warehouse, Barbara decided to change her career path. She had a strong desire to care for children and started her own in-home daycare, Barbara’s Quality Child Care for approximately 30 years. During that time, Barbara joined the Oak Cliff Child Care Association and was an active member for many years. She loved and cared for many children and when some became of age, they entrusted her to care for their own.
Barbara enjoyed life to the fullest. Her passions were bingo, casino trips, watching football, political conversations, and social media. She also enjoyed spending quality time with her family and close friends.
Preceding her in death are her loving husband, Donald Ray King “Jody”; brothers – Milton, John L., Floyd, and James Simmons; sister, Brenda Caufield; and several nieces and nephews.
She leaves to cherish her memories her son, Edward of Dallas, TX; daughter, Kimberly of Dallas, TX; sisters, Dorothy Caufield and her twin, Sandra Taylor of Waco, TX; brothers, Edward Simmons of Waco, TX and Tommy Patterson of Desoto, TX; grandchildren, Joshua Ramirez and Ethan Jordan; sister-in-law; brother-in-laws; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
