

Barbara Ann Vaillancourt was born on April 15, 1940 in Brighton, Massachusetts and passed away on March 19, 2025 in Mesquite, Texas. She is preceded in death by her husband, James Edward Vaillancourt of 48 years, her parents, Roger Francis Quinlan and Catherine Mary Quinlan; brothers Roger and Edward, and sister Dorothy; grandson Joseph Aragon; and pet Duchess. Survivors include sister Theresa; three daughters, Joanne Marie Vaillancourt, Gayle Jean Vaillancourt, Dorothy Mae McCollom and husband Scott, and like a daughter Sherri Plunk; five grandchildren, Michael James and wife Jennifer, Lorraine, Michael John, Andrew, Jessica and husband Eryl; three great-grandchildren, Haylee, Xavier, and Scarlett; many nieces and nephews.
Barbara married the love of her life, a sailor, James in 1964 in Boston, Massachusetts at St. Columbkille Catholic Church. They came to Texas for their honeymoon and never went back. Barbara was a Southwestern Bell telephone operator for many years in the late 1950’s and early 1960’s. She was a teacher’s aide in the 1970’s at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Dallas. She left that and began working retail at TJ Max and Marshall’s as a Customer Service Supervisor until retiring in 2005. She was very active as a Lady Knight with the Knights of Columbus with James who was a Grand Knight. After the death of James, she remained active at St. Philip doing volunteer work and in 2024 was one of the recipients of the Diocese of Dallas Bishop’s Award for her service to her church parish. She loved spending time with her family and friends, traveling, and working in the yard.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 26, 2025 from 5:00 until 8:00 with a Rosary to begin at 7:00pm at Sparkman-Crane Funeral Chapel. Funeral Mass at 10:00am on Thursday at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
