She was born in Van, Texas and lived on a farm with her brother, mother, and dad. She attended a country school which included all grades. During her early teens, her family moved to Dallas. She graduated from Crozier Tech High School at age 16.
She married her beloved Wayne Martens at the age of 19 and had four daughters. She chose to stay at home to raise her children. During that time she opened her door to the DeSoto community and became the “Go-To-“person for all child care needs. In those days it was not uncommon for kids to stay at houses instead of “Day Care” facilities.
As her youngest child reached school age she decided to go to work outside of the home. Bea worked for several different ministries but landed at her long life’s work in World Bible Fellowship Inc. Her gifts and callings were around people. Her job was to answer the phone, greet them, and take messages as needed. Over 40 years, it developed into a ministry that is not easily forgotten by those who called to get an encouraging word or prayer. Her strength was in lifting people up and making them feel good about the situation they were in. Men and women both would call from coast to coast to hear her southern belle voice. It was said, “There is no one else like her”!
She is known by different names. These are a few of them: “Miracle Woman”, “Queen Bea”, “Honey Bee”, “Aunt Bea”, “Bea Maw”, “Momma Bea”, and simply Bea. Everyone that ever knew her, loved her.
