Ben Morton Barton, Sr., age 82, of Dallas, Texas, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 9, 2026.
Ben was born on November 22, 1943, in Temple, Texas, to William and Margaret (Simmonds) Barton. He spent his early years in Temple before attending Admiral Farragut Academy in Florida, graduating in 1961. He went on to continue his education at North Texas College and later earned his law degree from St. Mary’s University.
Ben built a distinguished legal career that spanned more than five decades, dedicating his life to serving others through the practice of law. He was widely respected by colleagues and clients alike for his integrity, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to his work.
Outside of his career, Ben found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He had a deep love for golf, both playing and watching the game, and was an avid fan of the Dallas Stars. He enjoyed traveling, especially to Europe and the Caribbean, creating cherished memories alongside his beloved wife, Betty. A lifelong learner, Ben was a voracious reader who took great pride in mastering crossword puzzles, and he was a devoted admirer of classic John Wayne films.
Those who knew Ben best will remember him as a hardworking, kind, and gentle soul with a steady presence and a warm heart. His quiet strength and genuine character left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
Ben was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betty Baroli Barton; his parents, William and Margaret Barton; his brother, William Andrew Barton, Jr.; and his fraternal twin brother, Robert Norwood Barton.
He is survived by his children: Ben Morton Barton, Jr. and his wife Stephanie; Cynthia Machicek and her late husband Brian; and Andrew Kittredge Barton and his wife Wendy Michelle Barton.
He was a proud and loving grandfather to Emily Elizabeth Barton, Jacob Alexander Barton, Kayla Machicek, Josh Machicek, Lucy Marie Barton, and Cooper Crenshaw Barton, each of whom brought him immense joy and pride.
Ben will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of kindness, dedication, and love will live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
