Bernard F. Kottwitz was born April 13, 1950 in Appleton, Wisconsin to Frank and Mary Louise Kottwitz. He died peacefully in his sleep on March 3, 2021 at his home in Dallas, Texas. Bernie or “B” as he was known to his family and friends, was the second of eleven children and much loved by his brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews.
Bernie was a graduate of Bishop Lynch High School and the University of Dallas. He was a devoted member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church during his 55 plus years of living in Dallas. As a member of the Knights of Columbus, he participated in many church activities and was an usher at the Sunday 11am Mass.
Bernie was an avid sports fan and devoted follower of the Dallas Cowboys, the Texas Rangers and the Dallas Mavericks. He knew his sports statistics and could be counted on to settle disputes over the details of games and league standings.
Bernie is survived by three sisters, Mary, Catherine and Margaret, and six brothers, Richard, Thomas, John, James, Frank and Eric, many nieces, nephews and their children, and his long-time canine companion, Bear. We shall all miss this gentle, kind and loving soul. May he rest in peace.
