Bertha Virginia Fox was born in Galveston, Texas on December 31, 1924 to Camille Wilson Fox and David Fox, both lifelong residents of Galveston. She had a little brother, David John, who died in childhood. Bertha attended Ursuline Academy, where she was the valedictorian of her class. She then attended nurse training at St. Mary's Hospital, where she met her future husband, Roland White. They married and had 5 children. They moved to Dallas and settled in East Dallas. Bertha helped found The Dallas Center (formerly, Angels, Inc.), a school for differently able-ed children, and now adults, which her son, Donald White has attended for nearly 60 years. Bertha was a loving mother and grandmother. She will be remembered for her sweet laugh, humor, great conversation (especially on the telephone!), the fun times when she babysat for her grandchildren, and for hosting the most wonderful family dinners on holidays. She will be dearly missed by her children, Camille Duffy, Mary Beth Oujezdsky (and son-in-law, Pat), David White, Tom White (and daughter-in-law, Linda), and Donald White, her 6 grandchildren and her 10 great grandchildren. Services will be held at Sacred Heart chapel on the grounds of Sacred Heart cemetery in Rowlett on December 27, 2018 at 10:00 am, to honor her memory.
