Betty Jeanne Ashmore was born July 26, 1929, in Kansas City, MO and passed away in Waxahachie, TX on January 3, 2026. Betty is survived by her daughter Cindy and her son-in-law Robby Day, her grandchildren, Lindsay Day Wilson, Kristin Day Thompson, Alexandra Ashmore Hodge and Zachary Ashmore along with their respective spouses and 7 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her mother Grace Rose Falk and father Anthony Joseph Falk, husband Don Ashmore, her son David Ashmore and daughter-in-law Kimblery Ashmore and her identical twin sister, Barbara Mitchell.
Betty met her husband Don at Kansas City Junior College where she passed him a note asking if she could take him to a Sadie Hawkins dance. She addressed the note to “Ashmore” not knowing his first name. They eventually planned a September wedding, but those plans were abruptly changed when Don’s Army unit received word that they would be headed to Korea soon. They were married on March 4th, 1952. They were blessed with two children, a daughter Cynthia Ann and a son, David Charles.
In 1959, Don’s employer transferred them to Dallas where they soon joined Oakwoods Christian Church. Betty was very involved in the Christian Women’s Fellowship group where she met many lifelong and dear friends. She served as President for 8 non-sequential years as well as Service Director, Treasurer and Secretary.
Betty was a devoted wife and a selfless caregiver to her husband Don during his long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Don passed away in 2000, and Betty eventually moved to Champions Cove, an active senior living center where two of her lifelong church friends also lived, Doris Hassell and Laura Vaughn. Betty and friends had many happy times playing board games, bingo, going to Book Club, Bible study, the movie theatre, or going out to eat at Spring Creek BBQ (always using the monthly coupon, of course).
Betty had a close walk with God. She loved her family and particularly enjoyed family gatherings. Betty was a proud and loving Mother, Grandmother and Great-grandmother. She was a caring, kind and dependable friend to many and she will be greatly missed.
