Preceded in death by her parents, husband, J. Ross Thurston, Sr., son, John Ross Thurston, Jr., and husband, Ken W. McGowan, as well as her sister and brother-in-law (Dorothy and Ray Stana).
Sue worked for many years at Southern Methodist University, and after a brief retirement was recruited by DeGoyler and MacNaughton before finally retiring in 1983.
Survived by daughter, Penny Gardner, granddaughter, Kelley Salweske (Rick), great-grandchildren Owen, Henry and Meg, as well as several nieces and nephews. Survived also by others Sue dearly loved are Bruce, Joanie, Alan and Rebecca Sostek, as well as Cathy Wilton, who referred to her as her back-up mom. Also everyone in the Pat Parker-Jackson Family.
In lieu of flowers, Sue asks that donations be made to either St. Jude Children's Hospital or Ronald McDonald's House.
Graveside services will be held at Grove Hill Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 3920 Samuell Blvd. Dallas, TX 75228. Date of the graveside is to be determined.
