

We are sad to announce that Betty Mae Winters passed away at the age of 89 on August 19th 2023, at home. Betty was born on February 3, 1934 in Lake Providence, Louisiana to Oscar and Edith Black. When Betty grew up, she met Harry Winters, they got married, and had six children. Betty worked in an Optical manufacturing plant for many years. Betty enjoyed gardening and watching her shows like One life to live, General Hospital, and All my children. Betty’s house will always be remembered as the house all the kids hung out at during the summers and where everyone gathered for the holidays. Everyone on Modesto Dr. knew her as granny.
She is preceded in death by her parents Oscar and Edith Black, her sister Sarah, her 2 brothers, Raymond and Virgil, her husband Harry Winters, and her daughter Theresa Winters. She is survived by her brother Claude Black, her sister Freida Black and her children William Winters, Melvin Winters, Linda Winters, Pamela Henderson, Sandra Miller and a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
A visitation for Betty will be held Monday, August 28, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Grove Hill Funeral Home, 3920 Samuell Blvd, Dallas, TX 75228. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, August 29, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, 3920 Samuell Blvd, Dallas, TX 75228. A committal service will occur Tuesday, August 29, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Grove Hill Memorial Park, 3920 Samuell Blvd, Dallas, TX 75228.
