Billie Onita Wortham

Billie (Hayes/Brown) Onita Wortham, age 96, of Dallas, Texas passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2022 in Dallas, Texas. She was born April 3, 1925 in Rowlett, Texas to Ada and Jesse Hayes. Billie was raised in Rowlett, Dallas, Canton and back to Dallas and attended the 8th grade and one year of business college in 1954. She married Wallace M. Brown, Sr. on December 6, 1944 and the couple had three children, Wallace Jr., Alice Sue and William Lee Brown. Billie was a bookkeeper at AP Carrie where she worked for many years. She married her second husband, William E. Wortham on November 7, 1967 and settled down in Canton, Texas. In her spare time Billie enjoyed singing, gardening, making sure her children were happy and cared for and skating and fishing trips. Her family and friends will always remember her as a good Christian woman with a smile for everyone and a personality to match. Billie was very independent, made her own clothes, and never left her bedroom or house without her "I Love Jesus" pin and some kind of jewelry... mainly her pearls. Even if she didn't go anywhere, she had on her pearls, a little rouge and lipstick. Billie was a devoted Christian woman of Tundra Baptist Church in Canton and a lifetime member of The Eastern Star.

Billie is preceded in death by her parents, Ada and Jesse Hayes; first husband, Wallace Brown, Sr.; second husband, William (Bill) Wortham; three brothers, Jesse (Bud), Dudley and David; 3 sisters, Peggy Love, Darline Proctor and Trula Russell and 1 stepson, Don Wortham. Left to cherish her memory are her 3 children, Wallace Brown, Jr. and wife, Gloria, Alice Miller and husband, Phillip and William Brown and wife, Pam; 2 sisters, Betty Demauro and Brenda Chumbley and 1 brother, Daniel Hayes; 3 grandsons, Jason Ramsey and wife, Lori, Justin Ramsey and wife, Tracey and Cody Brown and wife, Danielle; 2 step-granddaughters, Christy Recer and Tammy Miller and 6 great-grandchildren, Griffin, Tyler and Cade Ramsey, Landon and Aubrey Brown, Aizlynn and Breanne Rippey and Peyton Riggs and numerous friends and extended family members.

A visitation for Billie will be held Thursday, March 31, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Grove Hill Funeral Home, 3920 Samuell Blvd, Dallas, Texas 75228. A funeral service will occur Friday, April 1, 2022 at 2:00 PM, 3920 Samuell Blvd, Dallas, Texas 75228. A committal service will occur Friday, April 1, 2022 at Grove Hill Memorial Park, 3920 Samuell Blvd, Dallas, Texas 75228.
