Mr. Billy Joe Burks

Billy Joe Burks, the fifth child of Lurnz & Millie Burks. Was born on February 21, 1946 in Freestone County, Teague TX. Billy Joe went to be with the Lord on August 15, 2020 at his home in Dallas TX. He grew up in Teague Texas and attended J.A. Brooks Elementary School & Booker T. Washington High School. He faithfully attended the BTW/J.A.B Alumni Association Class Reunions. He was a farmer at heart; he loved his horses and was a member of Pemberton Hill Riders Club. He married Leola Abram and was a proud father of one son, and two daughters. Billy Joe worked at Dixie Metal Company for 22 years and retired from Sammons Industries where he worked for over 12 years.

Family members who preceded him in death are his Parents, and one sister Millie Z. (Burks) Wright, and Uncles, Aunts and cousins.

Those who cherished his memory most are his wife Leola Burks, his son Darrell Steward, his daughters Catrina Cooper, and Erica Burks-Medina, His brothers: James Lee Burks, Loyd Edward Burks (Princella), and Mitchell Glen Burks (Earnestine).

His Sisters: Bobbie Jean Plummer, Eva Marie Burks, Helen Ruth Burks, Mary LaRuth Robinson, 11 Grand Children and 18 Great Grand Children and a host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Friends.
