Bonnie Jean Jackson Seibert was born on March 31, 1923, to Jesse Lee Stone and Clarence M. Jackson. She grew up in Coshocton, Ohio, and attended Ohio State University. She passed away peacefully on February 7, 2023, with great anticipation of her heavenly home.
She met her future husband, Richard F. Seibert, on the OSU campus and they were married in April 30, 1944. He was a career Army officer in the Judge Advocate General Corps and the Seiberts enjoyed a lifetime of travel. They lived in Nara and Kyoto, Japan, Augsburg, Germany and Washington, D.C. They enjoyed over 20 years of yearly reunion visits to Hale Koa Hotel in Honolulu with JAG corps friends.
Bonnie was active in the military and civilian communities in which she lived. In Japan, she enjoyed teaching English at a cultural center and was an active member of an American-Japanese women’s group. She had a lifetime fondness and interest in the Japanese culture and people due to the experience. In Germany, she was President of the German-American Woman’s Club and a Brownie and Girl Scout leader. In Virginia, she worked as an elementary school secretary, was active in her church and played in duplicate bridge tournaments.
The Seiberts moved to Dallas when Richard retired from the military, becoming an Assistant City Attorney and later an Associate Municipal Court Judge. Bonnie was a member of the Dallas Lawyer’s Wives Club, The Dallas Opera Guild, Women’s Advisory Board of DBU, John Chew Chapter of American Colonists, Colonial Dames of America, past Regent of James Campbell Chapter of DAR, past State Chairman of DAR, served as organizing Secretary of Texas Society. She was a member of Lakeside Browning Club, Shakespeare Club, Matheon Club and Mary K. Craig Class. The Seiberts were charter members of Park Cities Presbyterian Church and enjoyed the fellowship of their Good News Sunday School class.
The family shared many wonderful adventures travelling the world, but her favorite memories were made taking her grandson, Rick, to Hawaii over many years. She was the heart of her family and created a loving home. She was faithful in her prayer life for family and others, and was a blessing to model how to ‘age with grace’ and live in contentment these past years.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Dwight S. and Clarence, Jr., and husband Richard of 61 years. She is survived by her daughters: Constance L. Jones of Navarre, Florida, and Elaine S. Lewis and husband Jack of Dallas; grandson Richard F. “Rick” Lewis of London, UK; sisters-in-law Julia S. Rankin of Winter Park, Florida, and Elaine Seibert of Danville, Virginia; niece Dr. Ruth E. Jackson of Nevada, Seibert relatives, Ohio cousins and Edgemere friends.
We are grateful for the personal care of the staff at Edgemere Plaza Skilled Nursing and exceptional care and compassion for Bonnie and our family from Hospice Plus.
A private graveside service will be held later this month.
