We are saddened to announce the death of our beloved husband, father, brother, poppa Willis Warren “Buddy” Brumley, Jr. He left us the evening of Sunday, August 4, at the young age of 67, after a short but valiant battle with cancer.
Buddy was born on March 13, 1957 in Dallas, Texas and graduated from DeSoto High School in 1975. He was raised by his mother and step-father, Betty and Earnest Cotton, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his father, Willis Warren Brumley Sr. and step-mother Pat Brumley, as well as his cherished sister Pam.
Buddy lived in Denton with his wife of 41 years, Nancy Brumley, and is survived by her along with his daughter Mariah Hancock, her husband Steve and children Keegan, Maddie and Levi, as well as his daughter Brittany Jackson and her fiancé Dave Anderson and her children Rachel, Avery and Clara. He is also survived by his sister, Debi Pena, her husband Darren and several nephews, cousins and their families.
Buddy loved spending time with his family, fishing, and watching his favorite teams the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Rangers. He valued hard work and was a highly respected construction superintendent for Skiles Group. This past December, before his diagnosis, his family was able to watch him receive the General Contractor Superintendent of the Year, awarded by the TEXO Construction Association. This represented a lifetime of hard work, sacrifice and dedication and we were all incredibly proud of him.
Buddy’s funeral will be held on Wednesday August 14 at 10am at Laurel Land Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 6300 South RL Thornton Freeway, Dallas, TX 75232. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to American Cancer Society in Buddy’s honor.
We invite all who knew Buddy to join us in celebrating his life and the impact he made on everyone around him. Your support and presence are deeply appreciated during this time of sorrow.
