Carl Gerard Dillon was born October 31, 1950, to Melbourne Gerald Dillon and Marion Redden Dillon. Throughout high school Carl decided that he wanted to be Veterinarian and worked for Dr. Walker (the first black veterinarian) in Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana. Carl graduated from West Side High School in Amite, La in 1968, where he was active in sports. Carl was on the football and tennis teams where he received numerous awards. He was also in the band as a drummer. Carl attended Southeastern University and was a member of the rugby team where he was recognized for his speed and talents. Carl’s plans were changed when he joined the United State Air Force and served in Vietnam, Japan and Texas. After leaving the Air Force he moved back to Louisiana where he attend University of New Orleans to major in Journalism. Carl accepted Christ at an early age at a small church in Kentwood, Louisiana. He was a member of Victory Through Jesus Christ Christian Church, under the leadership of Pastor Kirk Douglas Sr. Carl departed this earth on July 20, 2018 at Baylor Medical Center, He is preceded in death by his parents Melbourne Gerald Dillon & Marion Redden Dillon, his brother Wendell Dillon, his sister Cheryl Dillon and his first wife Myra Dillon, Spanky & Lady (beloved dogs). Those left to cherish his memories and to celebrate his life are his wife Sonja Dillon; six children: Caela Dillon Knox (Boderick Knox) of Ganado, Texas, Terence Dillon of Sandy Hook, Mississippi, Damien Dillon of Douglasville, Georgia , Shannon O’Neal Dillon of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Reginald Dillon of Columbia, Maryland, Anthony Terrell Dillon of Kentwood, Louisiana. Two brothers: Kenneth Dillon of Kentwood, Louisiana and Mario Dillon of Opelousas, Louisiana. Two sisters: Cassandra Calais (Jimmy Calais) of Opelousas and Rhonda Dillon of Atlanta, Georgia. Twelve grandchildren: Amaiya Knox, Caeleb Knox, Colin Knox, Alayah Knox, Brittan Dillon, Bre’anyaa Dillon, Taehah Dillon, Reginald Dillon Jr., Tamyra Dillon, Regina Dillon Alvarez, Camren Dillon, Alexis Dillon, and Theodour Dillon. Five great-grandchildren: Millian Nyomi Sylve, Gabriella, Carlos, Christopher, Domonic Alvarez. Mother-in-law: Burea Jean Shelley of Lancaster, Texas, sister-in-law: Shelia Thomas of Lancaster, Texas and brother-in-law: Michael Shelley of Lancaster, Texas. Godchildren: Malik and Makhia Thomas of Dallas, Texas, a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, Exxon Mobil employees and friends.
