Carl Jarvis Williamson, age 89, passed away on 07/18/20 in Dallas, Texas. Born 09/17/30 to Dale Carter and Margie Murphy Williamson, Carl was raised in Dallas, Texas, and graduated from Crozier Tech High School in 1948. He married Venita Jones Williamson in 1950 and the couple had 3 daughters: Carlene, Karen and Carole. He married Peggy Ruth Sechriest in 1981 and proudly embraced her son, Steve, and his children as his own.
He was a furniture refinisher by trade, working for Erwin Brothers and he never lost the joy of bringing the beauty out of a good piece of wood. He was a craftsman on the crew that built the home of the original owner of the Dallas Cowboys, Clint Murchison Jr. He became the foreman of that crew and then the Operations Manager for Mr. Murchison and held that position for over 30 years overseeing everything from the home, the grounds and the cars to the parties and events and other duties as assigned. He would develop a life-long, mutual relationship of love and respect with Mr. Murchison. After his retirement he developed and operated his own construction contracting company working with vigor, pride and joy until he retired at 80 years of age.
In his spare time Carl enjoyed: excelling at Judo where he earned a black belt and won a Senior National Championship; his membership and participation in the Masonic Lodge 760; collecting stuff, lots of stuff, for future projects which required lots of storage spaces and unlabeled keys to secure the stuff; treating his dogs like family which he passed along to many of us (his vision of himself in Heaven was “lying in a field being licked by a bunch of puppies”); reading, reading, reading anything; talking to people and telling stories (he never met a stranger and no one ever forgot him); hanging out with his wife, Peggy, whom he loved and respected and missed greatly (Peggy would say of him that he was the "nicest man, the best man she ever met.").
He is preceded in death by: his Aunt Fannie and Uncle Don Taylor; his parents Dale Carter and Margie Murphy Williamson; his brother, William Cecil Williamson; his sisters, Lillian, Margaret, Hazel, Jewell, Mary Alice, Elizabeth, Fannie Belle, Annie May and their spouses; his wife, Peggy Ruth Williamson; many, many friends and work associates and neighbors and people he met and befriended.
He is survived by: his girls, Venita Carlene Dasch and her husband Tim, Karen Lynn Williamson and Carole Anne Williams and her husband David, and the son of his heart, Steve Sechriest, as well as 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
