

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Carlos Lara, a beloved brother, father, grandfather and friend, who left us on April 25, 2025, at the age of 66.
Born on September 14, 1958, in Rio Grande City, Texas, Carlos lived a life marked by dedication, resilience, and love. He was known for his gentle spirit, kind heart, and unwavering commitment to his family. Carlos always had a kind word and a listening ear for anyone in need, and his presence brought comfort and warmth to all who knew him.
Carlos was a man of many passions, particularly wood carving, painting, and creating sculptures. His artistic talents were a reflection of his creativity and attention to detail, and he took great pride in bringing his visions to life through these mediums.
Carlos graduated from Rio Grande City High School in 1977, where he was an active member of the ROTC and played football for the Rio Grande City Rattlers. His dedication and discipline were evident in everything he did, both on and off the field. After high school, he attended the University of Pan American in Edinburg, Texas, where he played tennis for one season, demonstrating his love for sports and his competitive nature.
Carlos is preceded in death by his beloved father, Carlos Lara; his mother, Adelina Vargas Lara; his grandmother, Isidra Gonzalez Vargas; and his son, Juan Carlos Lara and granddaughter Luna Guajardo. He is survived by his brothers, Peter Lara, Fidencio Lara, Domingo Lara, Juan Lara. Daughters, Diana Lara and Karla Lara; his beloved grandchildren: Jacqueline Garcia, Luis Garcia, Miguel Lara, Cesar Salinas, Samantha Guajardo, Esteban Guajardo, Yaretzy Maltos, Jacklyn Maltos, Genesys Maltos, Brittany Maltos, and Johnathan Perez. His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
